How are you this morning?

This picture is another Chishu Ryu in the movie "An Autumn Afternoon".
This movie is the very last movie of Yasujiro Ozu in his career.

In "Tokyo Story"(1953), Ryu was only 49 years old.
He acted 70-year old role in the film. (It's surprising isn't it?)
In this "An Autumn Afternoon"(1962), he was 58 years old.
He acted a role of same generation in this movie.
This picture is much younger look than in his Tokyo Story's.

By the way, I like the way he salutes.



おはようございます、今朝はいかがお過ごしですか。

今回の絵は、また別の笠 智衆の肖像画ですが、これは『秋刀魚の味』からのワンシーンです。
小津作品としては 残念ながら、この映画が遺作となりました。

さて、昨日このグログで紹介した『東京物語』(１９５３) での笠さんは、実年齢では４９歳でしたが、映画の中では７０歳（！）を演じています。
しかし、この『秋刀魚の味』(１９６２) では、同年代の５７歳を演じています。
実際に、この絵の方がずっと若く見えますよね。

このシーンは ぼくのお気に入りなのですが、いわゆる海軍式の敬礼ポーズを取りながら 軍艦マーチの曲にのって、出演者たちがコミカルに そして印象深く それぞれの役を演じています。

まだ『秋刀魚の味』をご覧になっていない方、とても素晴らしい映画ですので ぜひ一度ご鑑賞下さい。
